Infographics: Four Major Styles of Chinese Cooking
Happy Friday! This week inspired me to learn more of the fundamentals of Chinese cuisine. I’ve met master chef’s from China who came to Washington DC to introduce Huai Yang cuisine. You may ask, what is Huai Yang cuisine? Even for an overseas Chinese, I did not know about this important Chinese cuisine. This has prompted me to get down to the basics and share the know-how with you. 🙂
We’ve been largely exposed to Sichuan and Cantonese cooking style in the US via the Chinese restaurants. But there are actually total of four major cooking styles in China – Shandong, Sichuan, Cantonese and Huai Yang. Each of them are influenced by a region’s culture, climate and location. In the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing more about each of the major cooking styles and introduce some dishes popular China, as well as some simple recipes suitable for home cooked meal. Stay tuned!
